Braşov 2011Contemporary Drama Festival

In the period 23rd  – 30th November, the Contemporary Drama Festival takes place at “Sica Alexandrescu Dramatic” Theatre of Brasov.

The Contemporary Drama Festival from Brasov became a tradition for Transylvania. Initiated in 1978 by “Sica Alexandrescu” Theatre, it is the only festival of its kind in Romania dedicated exclusively to the contemporary drama.

Some of the most important theatre shows in Romania are invited to the festival. The plays are accompanied by theoretical debates, book releases, performances – reading, photography exhibitions and other events that bring the contemporary theatre performance to the forefront.

At this year’s edition, the public will be able to watch plays from the Bucharest National Theatre, Odeon Theatre, Bulanda Theatre, Comedy Theatre and ACT Theatre. Important Romanian actors will be on the stage such as, Horatiu Malaele, Dorina Lazar, Vlad Zamfirescu sau Emil Hossu.

Among the performances that the public can see we mention: “Mestesugul vietii” (The Art of Life), “Mascariciul” (The Buffoon), “Tectonica sentimentelor” (Tectonics of feelings), “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf”. The ticket prices are between 20 and 45 RON and they can be purchased from the Ticket Agency of “Sica Alexandrescu” Theatre.
